Why does the movement of the pieces not make sound?
It does actually.
Do you have sound enabled, and the volume up (both on the device, and lichess directly) ?
More information regarding platform, used software etc would probably help.

Because it's not actual pieces but only pixels on a screen

I have Chrome browser.
If I select "user-sound" where 11 entries appear and I click 2 times on a type of sound then it sounds for one instant, but in the table when I move a piece it doesn't sound.
I'ts horrible. It happens from time to time

Solved..! I have disconnected the bluetooth speaker from the laptop and now I can hear the movements of the pieces.
Thank you all
Thank you all
I had a similar experience when I used USB speakers I think. They activated with some latency each time, so most of the sounds were simply gone. When I switched to "always on" via aux, it works fine (or using the internal speakers).
It seems more a browser / driver / hardware thing.
(When using Bluetooth I hear the sounds, but I think there is a bit of lag, too much for bullet here.)
