Can't select white as side

So, I can't seem to start a game and select "white" as my starting side. I'm only given the options for "black" or "either". It does it for any type of game.

Initially, I thought it was a browser bug, but I installed the app, and it followed me there too. Any suggestions?

I tried to search for anyone reporting a similar problem, but nothing obvious came up, so sorry if I'm duplicating work.

It looks like one can't choose white only when creating a rated 960, atomic, or antichess game, which makes sense because the first mover advantage is so high - at least in antichess.

I'm able to play atomic as white.

For me the web-based interface disables selecting "White" for *rated* 3-check, atomic, and antichess games. Presumably this is so because in these variants White has an advantage.
