General chess tips - part 2

I have decided to continue my series of chess tips, here are some general pointers:

1- Tactics:

Tactics will only occur if you spread your wings all over the chess board, its important to keep your pieces as close as possible to your base (starting ranks) to decrease the chance that a tactic will occur.

2- King safety:

Since the most common way a checkmate occurs is when the king runs out of legal squares, its important to create as many empty squares near your king as possible, this will not only eliminate back rank checkmates tricks, but will also prevent smothered mate from occurring, so sooner or later, you must play both g3 and h3 and remove any of your own pieces to stop smothered mate from occurring.

3- pawn structure:

since pawn structures divide the board into two separate battle fields, they prevent you from achieving maximum control over the board, therefore it is important to destroy all pawn structures that occur in the game even by means of exchange sacrifice.

for example, consider the caro kan structure which consists of a black pawn on c6 and e6 and f7, white pawn on d4 and c3, white must destroy black's structure by sacrificing the rook on e6, while black does the same by sacrificing a rook on d4

I'll do my best to complete this series
