Chess insight feature should be not private by default.

I think it should be visible for everybody by default. And it's obvious: now only friends can see someone's chess insight, and most of people are lazy to change their settings. So it will stay like it is. But I think most of people wouldn't mind if anybody can see their statistics. But, of course, they will be always have an ability change it to private. But there is no sense to make it visible only for friends: most of people, even if they don't mind to show it everybody, will not just care and change it to visible for all.
But it's very helpful to see statistics of high rated players. And there is no anything confidential to hide it. But, of course, they can make it confidential if they will think it should be.
I don't think most people would like their opponents to see which openings they are bad at with one click of a button. No way should it be public by default.
I reckon people are increasingly waking up to the 'tyranny of the default' as it's called in Silicon Valley. You're right in saying that most users (of software in general) don't bother changing the default. This does not however justify such assumptions on the part of the software designer.

Finding out your insights are public can make people *un*satisfied with the site. If most people were like 'meh, whatever', I think it would be okay, but there is a big segment that would like to keep it private. We reckon people might be quite upset if they find out it was on the whole time. So I believe it should stay friends-only by default, which I believe even more private people would find agreeable.
Would be a good idea to make a big window or a message saying: "You can make your chess-insights non-private or private". So people, who wouldn't rather change their settings will be able to do this with one click.
Or at least, would be nice, if we could see the list of players (especially high-rated), with non-private insights. Because now we need to go on the page of every player to check if it's turned on.
the option to make it public is easily visible in the instructions.
I appreciate that it's not public by default, even if i switched it to public.
i like that lichess defaults to privacy, which is an attitude that is hard to find in these times.
Yes, it's cool that it's private. I mean that people often prefer not to change things.
There was an experiment, where one half of people has got chocolate, and another half has got coffee. So, when after this they were asked, would they like to change coffee to chocolate, or chocolate to coffee, accordingly, 80%, if I remember right decline this, and preferred to be with what they have already got.
I just think many people, who don't mind their insights to be public, will still keep it private not because they want it to be confidential so much, but just because they have things like they are, and do not care to change some settings.
So, if they would get an announcement, that they can show it to everybody, there will be much more people who will make insights public. But now there is no any prompt, except the little sentence in the blog post, which many people could read diagonally.
So, they might not even think about that there is an option to make it private.
