There are several versions about the origin of chess, themost widespread of them considered as the country of origin India, Persia and China. The period during which the game of chess appeared is estimated to have taken place between the 3rd century and the 6th century. About the discovery of the game are countless legends, among which one of the most famous is the legend with the wheatgrains . Historical sources attest to the fact that chess was played in the 6th century in Persia. The game spread through the 7th century with the expansion and Islamic invasion of the Near East, North Africa, Byzantium, Italy, Eastern Europe and Spain. In the Middle Ages chess was considered by the nobles an elite game, for which the church disapproved (forbidden) the game for several centuries. By the 16th century the rules of the game will be changed, so it can be said that during this time the modern chess appeared. During this time chess was a game spread in Spain, France, and England later in Russia where most world chess champions come from. There are currently computer chess programs that have won chess games against world champions.
